“What will I write about?”

I had asked myself this question billion times before I finally started writing on Linkedin. It’s so easy to fall into the trap of your own thoughts. These thoughts often come from inner self-doubt and underconfidence. I feel you.

Personally, it took me a long time to start writing on Linkedin. I wish I had started much sooner because of the ways it is already changing my life. Through this article, I will share three simple ideas or thoughts, that finally motivated me to write which I wish I had come across sooner.

❇️ You don’t have to create anything.

When you’re just starting, don’t worry about creating, don’t worry about writing something that’s never been written before. Frankly, in most cases, you can’t do that right away.

What you should do is Document. Document everything you learn which is worth sharing. This works because now you’ll not find yourself pulling your hair off at the thought of writing something completely new. You simply write what you are doing, what you are learning, and what you will be doing.

💡 Here are a few ideas:

Write about a new skill you learned. Write about key takeaways from a book you read. Write about that one podcast that completely changed how you approach something. Write about your failures. Write about your wins.

❇️ No two are the same.

You must have thought to yourself.

“Well, this has already been written. Everyone has read this book, who cares about MY key takeaways from it?” You are not wrong. That book has 100 reviews maybe. But those 100 reviews weren’t written by the same person.

You see, everyone is different. We grew up around different people, had different experiences, speak different languages, and the list goes on. The way you digest content, view an art piece, analyze a story, watch a movie, experience emotion is different from anyone else.

The moment you start documenting them, you are putting your very own thought on the internet for everyone to see. Most likely people will like it. Everyone loves a new perspective. So, the next time you question yourself “How am I any different?” The answer is simple. You simply are.

❇️ Nobody cares.

Okay, this one is a little controversial but this very idea made me realize that no one is going to judge you for writing something valuable on the internet. When I posted my first text post on Linkedin, I was thinking of all the things people could say to me, only to realize, no one was saying anything to me. It was my own self-doubt letting me silently judge myself.

In fact, as soon as I started posting, I connected with people who were willing to give me feedback. I reached out to companies I was interested in. I started loving the process of writing a little more every day.

Okay, question, what are you thinking right now? 🤔 Yep, that right there is your very first post. So, go ahead and start writing.
